Our Christmas 2014

It's our 2nd year of celebrating Chistmas in Cerritos Heights. Last year, we spend it with the whole family because hubby's vacation lengthed within the season. I can say that nothing compares in celebrating Christmas with the family complete. But incomplete family members should not be a reason to not be happy on the ocassion. So whether hubby is not with us, we just reminded that Christmas is Jesus' birthday that whether we are complete or incomplete, with more foods or less, it must be celebrated!
36 inches Qutro Stagione. 4 kinds Pizza: Bolognese, Hawaiian, Etna and Calda.
I did not cook this time. I asked my kids what they want. When they said pizza, i think of something different! Then it came across my mind the number of pizza parlor which i saw from a tarpauline posted on a tricycle which delivers a huge pizza. I called them the day before the delivery so they could prepare it earlier and deliver it on time.

It was a hassle-free Christmas for me in preparing food this time. And Calda Pizza Cavite made it for us!

Oh! yes, you read it right on the title!--a no bake cheesecake. Hmmm..I know it's not only me who crave for cheesecake and wanted to make one by self. I really love sweets but not too sweet desserts. So, in making my own, I could make a precise sweetness that I want. I also love to bake but unfortunately, i don't own an oven so I couldn't bake. But that did not preclude me from making desserts even cakes! Thanks to the internet that I could easily search on for a no bake recipes for cheesecake! MILO took the step to send #MessagesOfHope to Tacloban Youth

Time is passing by so quick. I got hooked by the news on TV yesterday that surprised me with the interviews made by the reporters to the victims of Yolanda. That I became aware that it has been a year then after the typhoon Yolanda hit Tacloban. With the flooded donations extended by other nations, it is sad to know that the percentage of recovery done for Tacloban is very little yet. According to some locals who had interviewed, they get little support from the government and some really didn't get anything help from them. Some NGO's and private sectors extended their help too which highly appreciated by the victims. Some give foods, clean water for drinking, temporary shelter, prayers and counseling to overcome the trauma brought by the tragedy.

I know many of us shared help in our own special ways like Milo Philippines did to cheer on and lighten up the spirits of our little champions in Tacloban.

Send Messages of Hope to Tacloban Youth

MANILA, Philippines –A year after the typhoon’s destruction, Tacloban, one of the cities most devastated by Typhoon Yolanda, continues to reconstruct its industry, its homes, and its infrastructure. Friends and family from all over the globe are one with the Filipino nation in aiding the victims get back on their feet. Rehabilitation efforts are being carried outto help build back lives of the people, but there is still a long way ahead.
While the nation may have recovered from the initial shock of the catastrophe, victims still struggle to carry on with life from the rubble.Hundreds of families still live in makeshift tents and temporary shelters. A large number of children still go about their school and play time on barefoot.

As Tacloban's children rebuild themselves and their spirits through play and sports,MILO aims to let them feel that they are not alone, and encourage them to get active by giving 16,000 pairs of new shoes to the kids through its Help Give Shoes advocacy. Launched in 2010, Help Give Shoes is an ongoing campaign which enables every participant of the National MILO Marathon to donate a part of their registration fee to support the cause. MILO matches the total amount collected to provide shoes to deserving public school students. This year, as the leading beverage brand celebrates its 50th year in the Philippines, MILO will reach its target of turning over a total of 50,000 pairs of shoes for the schoolchildren.

This year, the little champions of Tacloban will be the recipients. The shoes will come with Messages of Hope which can be sent to the children of Tacloban in a number of ways. Avid MILO drinkers can write a message of inspiration on a foot cutout at the Help Give Shoes booth during the MILO Marathon qualifying races and National Finals. Netizens can get involved by sharing their inspiring messages, including the hashtag #MessagesOfHope, via posting on the MILO Philippines Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/milo.ph), tweeting @MILOPH on Twitter,or tagging @MiloPhilippines on Instagram.

This effort by MILO aims to ease the pain inflicted by Typhoon Yolanda that remains to be felt by the children. RhanaHomeres,a 12-year-old sixth grader from Tacloban, recounts her personal experience. “I stopped playing after the storm. I lost my shoes, my ball, and most of my playthings,” says Rhana.  Grade Six student Gil ChristianBabagay, also 12 years old, shares his fears. “I’m scared that it might rain hard again, and that something bad will happen to me. I think I’m even scared of people. Now, I don’t think I know what to do,” says Gil.
Physical activity is vital in the children’s road to recovery, stresses Dr. Ma. Lourdes “Honey” A. Carandang, Play Therapy Pioneer of the MLAC Institute for Psychosocial Services, Inc. “Being active through play and sport is essential in helping kids overcome trauma,” says Dr. Carandang. “The children of Tacloban need to enjoy their games and sports once again. This will enable the children maintain a joyful, youthful and positive outlook in life.”

Andrew Neri, MILO Sports Marketing Manager, urges everyone to help the children take the next steps and show them that the Filipino community is cheering them on.“There is a great need to help the children of Tacloban take that all-important first step towards winning at sports and in life,” says Neri. “As we fulfill our aim to help these kids to heal from the devastation that the typhoon brought in, the messages of hope will surely raise their spirits, and inspire them to carry on striving for their dreams.”

Through sheer resilience, the children of Tacloban have taken the first step to healing. The foot cutouts and messages filled with inspirationare symbols of hope. What more can thousands of Messages of Hope do for the little champions of Tacloban?Share your messages of inspiration, help give hope, and see the difference it can make.

Value each grain..Be RICEponsible!

November is National Rice Awareness Month

I never knew that there is such an event about rice awareness. Though I am familiar with "Panatang Makapalay" that I used to hear it reciting in 702 DZAS every morning. It opens my mind on how to value each grain on my plate. In fact, I have learned to just cook rice that is just enough for the family. In case we have leftover rice at home, i wash and drain it and place it inside the refrigerator so i can mix it with a cup of rice to be cook the next day. Bawal din ang masunugan ng kanin! I even implemented "NO LEFTOVER RICE ON THE PLATE" policy at home. I even ask my kids to just get the exact scoop of rice on their plate which they could only finish. Anyway, they could have scoop more if they want after they have finished what is on their plate. In this simple ways, I know we could help the country achieve rice self-sufficiency and we show our appreciation to our farmers by valuing the fruits of their labor. How about you? How can you show that you value each grain?

Support our farmers. Value each grain. Love rice and BeRICEponsible.

No more fake Postal ID

ID or Identification card identifies one person's information. It can also be used for any transactions. That is why I am trying to get IDs, but seems I only have Driver's License yet and expired Postal ID :)

When I got married and became 'Mrs. Manlapaz', this is one of my problem in doing  transactions in private and government offices which they asked for two valid IDs. I remember back then when i had a hard time opening a bank account. Good thing that they've just asked me to bring my marriage contract,Birth Certificate and Baranggay Clearance (since i don't own yet a valid ID carried my new surname) and allowed me to open an account.

Though I am a registered voter in Taguig, I don't know why they did not issue my voter's ID, which is also in the list of valid IDs. One of the most available valid ID that you can apply easily is the Postal ID. The time i applied for it four years ago, the requirements are simple: Birth Certificate, Baranggay Clearance, ID pictures and P400 fee. The ID then is just a laminated paper with your picture and information type written on it and has expiration for three to five years.
Old Postal ID

NOW, the Philippine Postal Corp. launched a new-look Postal ID! It comes in plastic laminated (like ATM card) with magnetic stripe. It comes with hollographic security image and other security features with biometrics data of the ID owner. With its new look, it is secured with Quick Response Code (QRC) that cannot fraud at all! It has android app that can verify whether the QRC is fake.

The new Postal ID

THE GOOD NEWS:
There is no age requirement in getting the new look Postal ID. Anyone can get their own Postal ID even the students! Just bring with you your Birth Certificate, Baranggay Clearance and a fee ranging from P400-P800. For now, it is only available in Five Pilot area in Metro Manila. It will be available nationwide by January 2015.

For those who just recently got their postal ID, they can go to the nearest Post Office and ask for the new one in plastic laminated with a discount fee. Yes, it's not free of charge.

IN THE FUTURE:
The Philippine Postal Office aimed to use the new Postal ID for future transaction in Philippine Postal Savings bank too.

'J' is for... Jipangyi!

'J' is for Julie!? That's me!

Uh! Oh! Not this time. I was just curious the last time hubby and I went to a mall and saw a J-shaped corn curl filled with soft ice cream. And so out of my curiosity, i bought one for only P35. The stall is named 'Jipangyi'.

My Jipangyi in oreo coated ice cream

Jipangyi is a traditional Korean snack. It is made of corn injected with soft ice cream and coated with the choice of additional flavor. This is very popular in Insadong, Korea.
'J' is for Jipangyi
Trully that Korean has a big impact in our country. From fashion, movies and foods, it was a big hit for Filipinos.

Jipangyi is now available at the following malls...

Oh! My Shoes!

It was a funny experience when you wore a different colored shoes right?! Yes, It happened to me! And I have learned from it!

Last October 1, (Oh! that was my birthday!)..i bought a pair of boat shoes from Shoebox, Alabang Town Center. As a present to myself (kasi nga birthday ko..heheh), I chose a pair from on sale items. Fit it, pay and go. I did not open it at home until on Sunday (after four days) that we went to Worship Service. Still we don't noticed it was a different pair! Yeah, you're right, we reached the church wearing a different color of shoes. Good thing is that no one even noticed about it..even me! I just observed it when the Worship is nearly ended while the pastor asked us to bow down and pray..looking down to my shoes--that's when I saw it was different (black and blue) I told hubby about it and we just all laughed!

Admit it! you can't barely see the difference, right! Until you look closely-- below is blue, upper is black!

The next day, we head back at the Shoebox and let the sales lady see what she gave us. They were good enough to entertain us and just get the right color to match the pair of shoes i bought from them.

The right pair of shoes to fit my feet! I GOT THE BLACK!

Here are some guide/tips in buying shoes (from my personal experience) and I wanted to share it with you...

1. Know on what occasion you will use the shoes.
2. Select the type of shoes you wanted to buy.
3. Fit what is just right for your feet. (if you will wear the shoes with socks, then have some allowance for it)
4. Check the size if it is well fitted from one another.
5. Check closely on the color because sometimes the dim lights from a store may have vary effects on the colors.
6. Check the materials used.
7.. Double check before paying.
8. keep the receipt.

Shoes that fits the Feet is a Happy Feet!

Family Boodle Feast at Seafood Island!

Life is about balance.

Last Sunday we attended the Worship Service from our home church in Taguig. We were filled then with Spiritual food--God's Word. After filling our spirit with spiritual foods, we decided to have lunch at Market! Market! This time to fill up our tummy with physical foods :)

I wanted my boys to really get satiated and eat what they wanted so we look for an "eat all you can" buffet. Unfortunately, we arrived at 1PM and eat all you can buffet is over. The first set of buffet they serve is from 11AM-1PM. The next serving will be dinner from 6PM-8PM. So we need to jump on the other resto since our tummy is starting to grumble.

Near those restos is an eye catching serving of original boodle feast from Seafood Island. Looking to their menu outside, the delightful crew approached and invited us to get inside while we were deciding on what to order. After browsing the menu book, here is what we ordered--DAVAO GULF Boodle Feast!

Boodle feast-- DAVAO GULF Davao Gulf is good for 5-7 persons. It includes Tuna Ala Pobre, Chicken Inasal, Pork Barbecue, Grilled Squid, Grilled tomatoes and eggplant, Grilled clams, steamed shrimps, Laing, Lato salad, Ensaladang mangga, Salted egg, Kalkag Rice, Bagoong Rice and Garlic Rice with Crispy Dulong.

That was just enough foods to have tummy filled!
Gone in just minutes!!!
There are more Boodle Feast to choose from their menus that are good for 3-4 persons, 5-6 persons or 5-7 persons.

You may also try the other menus if you think Boodle feast is too big serving for you! These servings are food for 2-3 persons.

HAVE A HAPPY TUMMY!

Paseo Verde construction in full swing

A home is where a small unit of society develop relationships with one goal embraced with love hope and dreams. It is where our story begins...

Whether you are a single or have a family, here is a good news from Paseo Verde which will help make your dreams to own a home come true.

Press Release

Paseo Verde construction in full swing

Are you ready for another urban oasis?

Las Pinas will be the home of LEED Inc.’s first project, Paseo Verde in Real and construction remains on track as it goes full-swing to complete the first tower of the 1.1-hectare mid-rise condominium project.

Targeted date of completion of the first tower is at the end of 2015, with turnover of units happening as early as the fourth quarter of 2015. Paseo Verde is expected to be a much-awaited landmark in Las Piñas, it will be the first, fully-integrated green community to rise in the area. It is located along Real St., Pulang Lupa Uno in Las Piñas City.
As Paseo Verde aims to set a green standard of living for its owners through its efficient, eco-friendly features – amenities that focus on green architecture and puts emphasis to the company’s three environment focus: Climate change, the Clean Air Act, and the safety and health of its residents.
From energy-saving amenities, and unique structural layouts, Paseo Verde at Real’s green features will change the way we look at green living.
There are so many environment-friendly features to look forward to such as the energy-efficient streetlights which don’t make use of any electricity at all, and gets its energy from solar panels.
There’s also the rain catchment facility, which allow the whole development to make use of recycled rain water for grounds upkeep. Water from rain is used to clean the surrounding, and water the green patches at the lifestyle facilities. This will be placed in dead spaces of the development such as the ground underneath the driveway. This is a first in the country and no other developer has implemented this green feature before.
The project will also have a beautiful ‘rain garden’ located  near the building’s downspouts  – this serves as a natural water filter which means less water waste is thrown out of the drainage system, and in turn, lessening the chances of floods in surrounding areas during storm.
Expect also the extensive use of recycled construction materials – strong recycled wood are utilized as door frames and door jams in various parts of the towers. Not only is this step environment-friendly, it also gives a refreshing and unique look to the whole development.
The layout of all three towers also ensure that indoor air quality is at its best: Pocket gardens that open to large air pockets in the middle of every residential floor ensure that fresh air circulate freely around the building. This removes the stifling feeling often associated with most condo developments.

The most unique feature of Paseo Verde at Real are the bike facilities that will be made available upon completion. Aside from bike lanes, there will be permanent bike racks where lovers of the activity can park their equipment safely.

The bike facilities, interestingly, are the biggest come-on of buyers. This is because the activity encourages residents to lead a healthier lifestyle by biking.
The location is also considered very convenient. Paseo Verde is very near the C5 Extension and the proposed LRT Extension – all set to be finished alongside the construction of the mid-rise development.

Model units now ready for viewing

Even the model units invoke nature to show future residents that LEED Inc’s vision of a green home also translate indoors. It makes use of natural materials such as wooden accents and flooring. Walls are also painted with light colors to maximize natural illumination coming in from every unit’s large windows. Wooden mobile cabinets also adorn these spaces, and the design is consistent to that of a charming and homey cabin.

Available model units include: 26.1sqm and 29.5sqm studio units; 38.25 one-bedroom; 51.13 two-bedroom, and a 66.55 three-bedroom, all depict an eco-friendly way of life for its future residents.

The model units also give ideas on how to efficiently use space in condo living. The studio unit for example, makes use of a cabinet as both storage for the ref, and extra storage area for other things. This same cabinet is used as mount for the tv, while a half round table set against a wall serves both a compact dining area, or instant bar during small gatherings.

 Friendly payment terms

Every month, special payment terms are being offered to those who will avail of the early selling of Paseo Verde. Aside from freebies, it is also possible to avail of a unit without a reservation fee. LEED Inc., has partnered with major banks to help future residents find a comfortable payment scheme.

Currently, urbanites from the South and OFWs see Paseo Verde as the investment that they have been waiting for.

Check out the Paseo Verde model units by visiting the site today. Paseo Verde at Real is accredited by the Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) and a member of the Philippine Green Building Council for its steps towards promoting a sustainable community. The first tower turnover is scheduled in October, 2015. For more information, please call 854-1652.

Renewal of Driver's License Conveniently!

Yesterday was my birthday and at the same time, date of expiration of my driver's license. That only means that it needed for renewal! It was a fast tracking years that i have noticed that two years is finally over.

From the first time i got my license, i didn't like the experience of long waiting in lines from step-to-step procedures in LTO (Land Transformation Office). I got my first license in LTO-Las Pinas assessed by A1 Driving School fascilitator since i studied driving from them.

Driver's License Renewal Center Alabang Town Center

Thank God that LTO already expand their service to malls. I track down the internet and read some blogs that helped me a lot where to conveniently renew my driver's license. I chose to renew my license in mall where i can conveniently go since i live in a subdivision along Daang Hari Road, and that is in Alabang Town Center (ATC). Actually it is not located inside the mall. The location is near the parking lot of ATC in South Supermarket. It is across the side entrance of ATC. Anyway, you can ask the guard there to point the exact location :)

This is my first time for license renewal and surprisingly more convenient in mall!

Here are the step-by-step procedure in renewing for first time (my experience)

1. Get an application form in Window 1.
2. Go to Window 6 for UPLOAD.
3. Pay for Medical (P100) and Service Fee (P100) to the cashier to get your number for medical.
4. Fill up the application while waiting for your number to be called for medical.
5. Medical
6. Go back to Window 1 for assessment.
7. Go to Window 6 for Photo/Signing.
8. Go to Window 2 for evaluation.
9. Pay to the Cashier for the corresponding fee.
10. Wait for the releasing.

BREAKDOWN OF LICENSE FEES

I spend more or less an hour to finish the procedures. They will ask your previous receipt if you are first time to renew your license, but mine was lost so i just tell them and it's just fine anyway. They only give us the OR with stamped as temporary license since ID card is not available yet. They gave until November 4 for the effectivity of my temporary license and hopefully get the official ID card license on the same date.

Chef Tony's Popcorn-- Tub of Happiness.

I never know that eating popcorn could be a bridge in helping out the persons with down syndrome.

I am familiar with Chef Tony's Popcorn but I don’t buy it because it’s half pricey than the one we used to buy.

When we we’re in a mall in Cubao, I was struck to buy some and so let hubby taste it since I know popcorn is his favorite. Since it has promo that time, we got three small tub for a price of P299. You need to include a small tub of Original Caramel then choose two more small tub of other flavors to avail the promo. Each small tub cost P115 up depending on the flavors. Here are what we got: Original Caramel, White Chocolate and Country Cheddar.

I was surprised when I saw at the side of the bag that says a portion of the sales goes to: DOWN SYNDROME ASSOCIATION OF THE PHILIPPINES.

Now, eating popcorn could be more enjoyable if it’s Chef Tony’s Popcorn because you know that you share the blessings to someone by simply purchasing.
