Magsaysay Supports Day of the Seafarer

My husband is a Seafarer. He works on a ship as a technical crew for nine years now. I never knew then that there is an occasion called "Day of the Seafarer" until such this day I received an email from their agency regarding the celebration.

ABOUT THE "DAY OF THE SEAFARER"

In 2010, the Diplomatic conference which met in Manila to adopt milestone revisions to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for seafarers (the STCW Convention) and its associated Code, also agreed that the unique contribution made by seafarers from all over the world to International seaborne trade, the world economy and civil society as a whole, should be marked annually with a Day of the Seafarer. The date chosen was 25 June, the day on which the amendments were formally adopted. (source: http://www.imo.org/)

On June 25 is the celebration of  "Day of the Seafarer". It is a campaign of recognizing the Seafarers and how they enhanced our lives. The company invited the people to support Seafarers by simply send a special messages and greetings by completing the sentence:

It's Back To School! Ready To Roll!

Two months of Summer vacation is over and it's time again to wake up early in the morning to prepare kids for school. Today is my kids' first day of school as most of the schools has the same schedule of opening the SY 2014-2015 while others started last week just as my first son who is in his 2nd year of College.

We've done buying their school supplies last month but just bought their bags yesterday in SM Dasmarinas. I realized that my kids' were not younger anymore that I used to hold their minds and let me decide on what bags should I buy for them that wont hurt my pocket. Now, they have chosen the bags they want, for me it is pricey when the price is more than P500  hehehe. So i just give them P1k budget for each bag.

My kids' chosen bags for SY 2014-2015

Here's what they got!

The two toned blue and black hawk knapsack is for my eldest son. It cost P999. We tested hawk bag durability when we purchased their first hawk bags when he was in First year HS and his brother in 5th grade (now in 4th year). It's still in good shape but my kids find its too big for school use. My adolescent kids balances their bags and fashion trends. Good thing in this brand, is that they offer lifetime warranty for their bags with minor defect such as broken zipper.

The one in the middle is a Nike printed backpack for my second son which is in 4th year HS. Though he has a lot of books to bring in school, he picked this one. He would have locker anyway. This one cost P1499 and most pricey among three. I allowed him to get this one though the price is over the budget I allocate for each of them because his younger brother spent less for his bag.

I was glad when my youngest son which is in 4th grade picked his bag. Not a trolley this time! Oh! is this a sign that he's no longer small? Well, just accept the fact that they will never remain small at all. It's just that time flies so quick that he's growing too fast just like his big bros!

He was attracted with the color of neon green, maybe it is a trend color that he saw for rubber shoes. This bag made his first day of school more exciting :) The cheapest price among --P599 only! Plus an attache case to put in his books, worth P169.

I realized that when kids have the things they want especially for school, going to school made them more interesting and exciting. It's not how much the things cost but teach them to value the things they have and build their confidence not on the things they have but in the Lord. What important is they have what they need for school.

MAY SCHOOL YEAR 2014-2015 BE A YEAR OF MORE BLESSINGS OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING FOR THE STUDENTS AND TEACHERS AS WELL :)

Cerritos Heights and Lessandra Heights Summer League 2014

When school year is ended, Summer started!

Camella Cerritos Heights Basketball Court

We've been moved in to our new home last year when the school vacation has started . It was in Summer then that is why we witnessed how the community worked together to enjoy the summer. Then it started the Cerritos Heights and Lessandra Heights Basketball League.

All of my three boys loved to play basketball just like their dad. So it was a perfect timing for them to join in and enjoy the activities, but only of my two boys get involved to the league that time.

This Summer, they continued the league for its second year. More teams were joined this time compared last year and blessfully all of my three boys and a nephew got their teams. The league lasted for over a month. Some team lose and some brought home the bacon.

2nd Placer-- Camella Knights (Mosquito Division)

My son's team in mosquito category take home the 2nd place after their 6-1 team standing. I wish they could have won if they just follow the right amateur rule for six consecutive winnings beat with three or two loses team for the finals. They should have twice to beat for that! Dabarkads got the 1st place anyway.

Trojans Team receiving their trophy

My other sons' team which is Trojans hooked the third place. Albacity for 2nd place and Slasher made it on First!

JKLV Team as The Champion  (Senior Division)

Having activity in a community develop friendship, fellowhip and fun. It's good to know that the league will continue in Novemeber, this time it includes Volleyball!
