My friend from San Franciso who is the ambassador of Holt International Children's Services which is based in Oregon, USA and a single mom too visited the Nazareth Home in Cubao. It provides service for single mothers. It is under the organization Kaisahang Buhay Foundation or KBF which primary vision is "Every Filipino child deserves a loving and permanent family."
KBF main office |
I was given the privilege to go with her and witnessed what was inside the "Home". We arrived in KBF's main office at past 10 AM. We thought at first that we arrived at the right place for single mothers' home not until the Executive Director Mrs. Rosario B. Dela Rosa came and told us that the women in Nazareth Home is waiting for us. So they convoyed us to where the Nazareth Home is. It was 15 minutes drive from the main office including the traffic.
When we entered the gate, we met along the volunteer who regularly visit the women in Nazareth Home. She used to spend her time visiting the women to interact with which could help them relieved emotionally. As we stepped inside the home, we saw the young ladies. I thought they were the single moms. But i was wrong then, because the institution also provides for educational assistance and home for scholars to stay. That has to be another home which is called Genesis Home.
Ms. Ava De Guzman give her inspirational talk to the Women of KBF Nazareth Home Service for Single Mothers |
These are some of the brave ladies inside the Home care who undoubtedly shared their stories. Some of them were brought there by their parents to avoid rumors in their place because of unexpected pregnancy and very too young of getting pregnant. Some volunteered themselves to stay there because they have no one to run to. They have found a new Home where they can relate and understand each others situations.
They were very happy to perform a dance number for us and even sang "Thanks to You" as their gesture of showing how grateful they are seeing people who visits them, that they felt to be remembered and cared.

To update: July 8, 2014
We have visited once again the home for single moms of KBF-Nazareth in July 8, 2014, some were old faces and most are new in the home. They admitted a total of ten pregnant women while four of them were gave birth at the hospital that time.
Ms. Ava brought the donations from her church in San Francisco which is Calvary Temple Church who really opened their hearts to support the single moms of KBF. She also discussed the plans for "Adopt a Single Mom" that brought hope for the women. We planned to visit them again in July 16, Wednesday to bring some crafts and teach them how to make jewelries that could help them start a small business.
We believe that God is ahead of every plans a man instill in his mind. We are just His intruments/vessels to make His plans in actions. We just need to humble ourselves and obey for whatever He wants us to do that will give glory only to Him.
